Backlinks from travel bloggers I've actually checked.

Most link exchanges let anyone in and hope nobody notices. I read every application myself, structure swaps so they don't leave an obvious footprint, and keep checking each link long after it goes live.

Free until 1 January 2026, then $15 a month. No PBNs, no link farms, no exceptions.

How joining works

It is deliberately slower than signing up for a link tool. That is the entire point of it.

  1. 01

    You apply

Your site, your niches, and your own numbers. Then you publish a page at yoursite.com/travellerswelcome so I can confirm the site is actually yours.

  2. 02

    I review it by hand

I check the site is real and active, that the niche fits, and spot-check your metrics against my own Ahrefs and Moz access. Nothing is scored automatically.

  3. 03

You swap, and I keep watching

Direct trades or three-way chains. Every placed link is re-checked for live, dofollow and anchor match, and both sides get told if one drops.

What other members see about you

Your completion rate and how long your placed links actually stay up are shown on your profile. Nobody has to take your word for it, and you don't have to take theirs.

The directory itself is members-only, so the panel here is an example rather than a real member.

Why this isn't just another exchange

The difference is not the idea of swapping links. It is what happens before and after the swap.

Typical backlink exchange
Travellers Welcome

Anyone can join, sometimes thousands of sites at once

Every applicant reviewed and approved by a person before they can swap

Direct A-links-to-B swaps that search engines can spot as a pattern

Optional three-way A/B/C chains, so no site links straight back to whoever linked to it

Links checked once, if at all, when the deal is made

Links checked on an ongoing basis, with same-day notice if one goes missing or turns nofollow

Free while the network is still small.

Membership is free until 1 January 2026, then $15 a month. I would rather grow this slowly with people who belong here than fill it up and sort it out later.

Applications are reviewed by hand, usually within a few days. If your site isn't a fit I'll tell you why rather than leaving you wondering.
