Travellers Welcome is for real, active travel websites. Private blog networks, link farms, and sites built primarily to sell or trade links aren't eligible. Every application is reviewed by an admin, and we can reject or reverse an approval if the metrics or content don't hold up to review.
Membership is granted by approval and can be withdrawn under the terms below. We may change or withdraw features, and we will give members notice by email before any change that would materially affect links already placed.
Links already placed through the board live on your site and on the other member's site. Nothing is withdrawn or reversed by us if you stop using Travellers Welcome.
Every site you add is hidden from other members until you choose to show it. You decide site by site, in your privacy settings or when you apply, and you can change your mind at any time. A hidden site does not appear in the directory, on your profile or in the member feed, and other members cannot see that you own it.
Administrators can always see every site, in order to review applications and handle reports. Hiding a site does not change what you have chosen to do with it: a page you post on the board, or a link you offer, names that page to the members who can see the post, and a link you give or receive is visible to the other member. Hiding a site also means it cannot be reported by name, so reports about it reach us through the post or the link they concern.
Access to Travellers Welcome is free while we are testing. During that time there is no charge to apply, to join, or to use any feature of the member area.
Paid membership will follow. It is currently planned as a single membership at $39 a year, in US dollars, and is shown on the pricing page. That figure is a plan, not an offer, and it may change before charging begins. There is no start date yet.
Before any charge takes effect we will email every approved member, and you will never be charged without being asked to agree first. If you would rather not continue on paid terms, you can close your account, and links already placed through an exchange stay exactly where they are.
When paid membership starts, payments will be handled by Stripe and we will not see or store your card details. The full billing terms, covering renewal, cancellation and refunds, will be added to this page before any charge is made.
When you place a link through Travellers Welcome, you agree to use the anchor text and target page you named when you offered it. Don't remove a link once it has been accepted without telling the other member, and don't use the platform to arrange links for sites you haven't applied with and had approved. Nothing here obliges anybody to link back to you.
Reported posts are reviewed by an admin. Depending on severity, an account can be warned, suspended, or banned.
You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate an account for violating these terms, including repeated reports, fake metrics, or abusive behavior toward other members.
If these terms change in a way that affects your obligations, we'll notify approved members by email before the change takes effect.
