How it works

Four steps from applying with your site to a link on your record. Here is what happens at each one, and the rules that hold it together.

Step 1

Apply with your site

A short form, and one page on your own domain to show the site is yours.

Step 2

Heidi reads it

Every application, by hand, usually within a few days. You hear the decision by email. If it's a no, Heidi's note says why, and you can ask for another review once it's fixed.

What Heidi looks at

  • Real, active site with readers
  • Niche fits the rest of the network
  • Metrics spot-checked against Ahrefs and Moz
  • Ownership proved on the domain itself

Turned down

  • PBNs and link farms
  • Sites built to resell placements
  • Thin or abandoned blogs

Step 3

Ask for links, and give them

Once your site is approved, the board opens: 2 open posts at a time, each up for 7 days.

Step 4

Give as well as take

The board keeps it fair: you can be up to 2 links ahead of what you've given before it asks you to help someone else.
