A link from a site that has nothing to do with yours is worth very little and looks like what it is. Everyone here writes about travel, so the placements make sense to a reader before they make sense to a crawler.

Two ways to get one

Both run through the same verified membership and the same monitoring. The difference is only in the shape of the exchange.

A direct trade. Simple and fast, but the reciprocal pattern is visible to anyone looking for it.

A three-way chain. Nobody links back to the site that linked to them, so the exchange leaves no reciprocal footprint.

What happens after the link goes up

This is the part most exchanges skip. Agreeing to a swap is easy. Making sure it is still standing in six months is the actual work.

It gets checked, repeatedly: Every placed link is fetched on a schedule and checked for three things: that it is still there, that it is still dofollow, and that the anchor still matches what was agreed.
Both sides get told: If a link goes missing, turns nofollow or the anchor changes, both members are notified rather than one quietly losing out.
It shows up on the profile: Completion rate and average link retention are built from real agreements, so a member who repeatedly drops links can't hide it.
